An obstacle detection method by fusion of radar and motion stereo
نویسندگان
چکیده
An object detection method based on the motion stereo technique is proposed, which works by the fusion of millimeter wave radar and a single video camera. The method does not depend on the appearance of the target object, so it is not only capable of detecting automobiles, but also other objects that come within its range.

Track to track fusion method applied to road obstacle detection
This paper presents a data fusion Kalman based method applied to obstacle detection in road situations. We describe the principle and the implementation of fusion process. It is based on tracks produced separately by single sensors. Results with Infrared and Radar sensors are shown, proving the benefit of this dual approach. Another application with Radar and LIDAR is also illustrated.
متن کاملIntegrating Millimeter Wave Radar with a Monocular Vision Sensor for On-Road Obstacle Detection Applications
This paper presents a systematic scheme for fusing millimeter wave (MMW) radar and a monocular vision sensor for on-road obstacle detection. As a whole, a three-level fusion strategy based on visual attention mechanism and driver's visual consciousness is provided for MMW radar and monocular vision fusion so as to obtain better comprehensive performance. Then an experimental method for radar-vi...
متن کامل3D Obstacle Detection Using a Single Camera
This paper aims at detecting obstacles using a single camera in an unknown three dimensional world, for 3D motion of an unmanned air vehicle. Obstacle detection is a pre-requisite for collision-free motion of a UAV through 3D space. Most research towards vision based obstacle detection and avoidance has been done for 2D planar motion of ground robots and using active sensors like laser range fi...
متن کاملInertial Navigation Sensor Integrated Motion Analysis for Obstacle Detection
There exists a significant need for automatic obstacle detection systems onboard rotorcraft due to the heavy workload demands that are imposed upon the pilot and crew. The current purpose of obstacle detection systems is not to replace pilot functions; rather the systems must augment the pilot’s ability for the sake of improving mission safety. The benefits of such systems are needed in both mi...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Map Building with MMW Radar
Radar offers advantages as a robotic perception modality because it is not as vulnerable to the vacuum, dust, fog, rain, snow and light conditions found in construction, mining, agricultural and planetary-exploration environments. However radar has shortcomings such as a large footprint, sidelobes, specularity effects and limited range resolution—all of which result in poor environment maps. Th...
